Trijicon, maker of the popular ACOG riflescopes commonly used by the U.S. military, now has a collimator for the M2 .50 caliber machine gun known as the "Ma Deuce" and the M240 medium machine gun, according to Johnny Moyer, a program manager for the company.

The new sight, the Machine Gun Reflex Sight or MGRS, features two ballistic cams, allowing the operator to easily switch between the M2 and M240, according to Moir. The user must reset the weapon after switching between .50 and M240.

The new reflex sight fills "a huge limit of possibilities," said Moir. "There is no recommended optic for mounted guns."

He said the M2 only has iron sights and people can't see beyond 1,000 meters, making it difficult to hit the target.

The new sight will make the M2, one of the oldest weapons in the American arsenal, more deadly and accurate, "increasing the likelihood of a first-round hit," Moir said. It will also reduce the cycle rate and increase the survivability of the weapon, Moir said.

According to Moyer, the Trijicon vision generated a lot of interest in the U.S. military. He said some special boat teams from the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy are testing the sight, and just over 100 sights have been sold overseas.

The Browning M2 machine gun is quite the mother of arms. It delivers a punch that is rarely forgotten, whether they are firing or on the receiver's side with great firepower. Some called it the "mother of all machine guns" and World War II soldiers affectionately called it Ma Deus. The weapon's official name is the .50 caliber Browning M2 Heavy Barrel Machine Gun, which casts a long shadow over US military history; He holds a special place in the hearts of many soldiers.

First designed during World War I, the Browning M2 has been produced since 1933. Since then, it has made history in the hands of several extraordinary warriors. The wounded Audie Murphy (one of the most decorated American soldiers) shot down one of the burning tank destroyers, stopping six armored tanks and 250 German soldiers for over an hour during a battle in eastern France. In fact, this act of bravery earned him the Medal of Honor.

The Ma Deuce's long-range firepower combined with its single-shot capability gave legendary Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock an unusual but effective weapon. In 1967, Hathcock installed a 10x scope on the M2, which he later aimed at Viet Cong guerrillas at 2,500 yards. The shot from almost a mile and a half remained the world record for the longest sniper kill until 2002.

In 2003, Sgt. Paul Ray Smith First Class climbed onto an armored vehicle and fired in twos at over 100 enemy soldiers who pinned down his platoon, saving the lives of his men. Killed in a shootout, Smith was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the first award in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Ukrainian Soldiers Use A Modern Version Of The Legendary Browning Machine Gun

"Watching a .50 caliber bullet down is an eye-opening experience," wrote Gordon Rottman, author of The Browning .50-Caliber Machine Gun. “Few can say they were wounded by a .50 caliber. Those who hurt less talk more."

The widespread use of armor and aircraft during World War I convinced General John Pershing, commander of the American Expeditionary Forces, that the army needed a heavy machine gun if it was to keep up with the rest of the world's militaries. Both the French and the British had large caliber machine guns like the Hotchkiss, but during World War I, only rifle-sized calibers were fired in the US machine gun stockpile.

Finally, American weapons genius John Browning experimented with his existing .30 caliber M1917 machine gun design to create a heavy machine gun that fired .50 caliber bullets. By 1921, the Army had adopted an experimental .50 caliber water-cooled machine gun based on a Browning design that was the "father" of the Ma Deuce.

After Browning's death, other weapon designers corrected the M1921's shortcomings, such as its lightweight barrel. In the 1930s, the Colt Company took over production of the gun, but it was still largely an original Browning design and received the familiar Browning M2 designation.

The classic setup of the Ma Deuce is a belt-fed, air-cooled jet machine gun. Its size alone makes it look menacing, standing almost six feet tall and weighing 84 pounds without the tripod. Adding a tripod increases the weight to 128 pounds.

Ma Deuce fires up to 550 rounds per minute, but can fire single shots. Due to the design of the gun, the ammo belt can be fed from the right or left side after some adjustments to the gun.

Moreover, the .50 caliber has the potential to allow the shooter to "reach out and touch someone." The effective range of the weapon is 6,000 feet, but its maximum range is

Both the Army and Navy loved the M2 and it was everywhere during World War II. The Ma Deuce was mounted on tanks as a coaxial gun, mounted on aircraft to shoot down enemy fighters, mounted on a tripod for suppression and covering fire by troops and marines, and mounted on ships as an anti-aircraft gun.

Lightweight Mmg Tripod

There was even a holy terror called "The Krat Mower", which was the M45 Quadmount. Originally designed as an anti-aircraft weapon, it had only four ma twos in an armored housing mounted on a half-track.

If a machine gun nest or a sniper had pinned down the Allied troops and the M45 was nearby, they would have strafed the German positions. A barrage of .50 caliber shells would simply cut through buildings or vegetation under a German threat. Hence the gun's nickname "The Kraut Mower".

The Browning M2 has its weaknesses. If the gun barrel overheats, a new barrel must be installed in the gun. The gun would operate violently if the barrel change was not carried out properly, and the work was often a tedious and time-consuming task.

Ma Deuce Gun

Ma Deuce's flaws caused by improper barrel replacement injured dozens of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan before the Pentagon approved a "quick-change" kit in 2012 that allows the barrel to be replaced without manually resetting the weapon.

While the weight and propensity to vibrate the shooter's body can make the Ma Deuce uncomfortable to use, it is still an extremely powerful weapon that can dominate any battlefield. The Browning M2 has been on the battlefield for decades and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

Like the earlier M1919 Browning machine gun which was chambered for the .30-06 cartridge, the M2 uses the larger and more powerful .50 BMG (12.7 mm) Browning cartridge. The project had multiple titles; The official military type designation for cart infantry is Browning Machine Gun, Cal. .50, M2, HB, flexible. It is effective against infantry, unarmored or lightly armored vehicles and boats, light fortifications and low-flying aircraft.

The pistol has been used extensively in the United States since the 1930s as an automotive and aviation weapon. It was widely used in World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Falklands War, Soviet-Afghan War, Gulf War, Iraq War and Afghanistan War.
